Senate Meeting called to order

   2. Absent: Treasurer Hertel, Chief Justice Edwards, Senator Johnston, Senator Landry, Senator Nguyen, Senator (Phosa) Kayode.

Approval of the Minutes

1. The minutes of the August 31 meeting were voted on by a show of hands, and have passed.

Financial Report

1. The report was sent in writing by Treasurer Hertel, who was absent, and was read to the senate by President Arguijo.

2. $50,000.00 was allocated last year. This year's allocation numbers have not arrived.

3. The budget stands at $15,000.00 for now.

4. About $5,000.00 has gone to scholarships.

5. The payment to Genesis Health Clubs has still not been pulled.

6. The SGA treasurer Outlook email account is working. The Gmail account, which holds all the information, is still not accessible.

7. Figures will be uploaded to the SGA website as they come in, and the website shows what SGA has so far. Senators with questions were asked to contact Treasurer Hertel directly.

8. The leadership fund stands at $5,000.00. None of it has been used.

Business

1. Bill 2621

   1. Senator (Phena) Kayode presented. The purpose of the bill is to buy donuts for Jet Friday. She is asking for $200.00 in total.

   2. SGA pays for 13 dozen and the vendor gives a fourteenth dozen free. The quoted price is $195.51 and the bill was rounded up to $200.00. SGA is tax exempt.

   3. Senator Masem asked whether anyone was available to pick the donuts up. President Arguijo said she will pick them up, and that Chief Justice Edwards may be able to help.

   4. Senator Masem motioned to approve and Senator Do seconded.

   5. 2. Bill 2622

   1. The bill's author is an ASC scholar required to complete a capstone project and was not able to attend. President Arguijo presented in her place.

   2. The purpose of the bill is to buy supplies to teach art to fourth graders at a local school: cardstock, construction paper, googly eyes, buttons, jewels, stickers, scissors, glue and yarn. She is asking for $65.00 in total, including tax. Anything unused will be returned.

   3. Senator Masem asked whether the supplies had already been purchased. President Arguijo said they were bought the preceding Saturday, that the school had asked for the supplies the week before, and that the author was not able to submit the bill in time.

   4. President Arguijo said SGA was advised that a refund can be issued as long as the bill passes, and that this is what was done for Cultural Extravaganza last year.

Call to audience

1. Jacob introduced himself. He works for the student newspaper, The Vantage, and said he came to see what SGA has planned going forward.

Committee Information and Updates

1. Constitution and ethics

   1. President Arguijo said there is nothing to report yet on either. She is still going through the constitution to see what needs changing, and will send an email to set a meeting this month. Ethics has nothing outstanding.

2. Jet Resource Hub

   1. President Arguijo gave the update in Treasurer Hertel's absence. The committee should be on the lookout for donations, and Treasurer Hertel will speak to them about previous donors. The Chick-fil-A bill needs to be written soon.

   2. The committee will meet about how to advertise the Jet Resource Hub and direct students to its new room, including having senators usher people into the building.

3. Clubs

   1. Vice President Keeling said she will compare her schedule against the ones the committee sent her and set a meeting, preferably in person, to discuss a student who wants to start a new club and to get a sense of the semester.

4. Security and grounds

   1. Secretary Morgan said he has messaged the committee in the GroupMe to find a time. He is free most evenings and proposed meeting every two weeks.

Advisor Updates

1. Dean Chambers asked that bills be completed as early as possible so that purchases can be made on time. She said some bills earlier this semester were delayed by timing and by Labor Day.

Executive Updates

1. President Arguijo had no updates of her own but brought up the 7brew conversation.

2. 7Brew

   1. 7Brew is opening a new location and wants to work with SGA, since SGA has bought from them many times before. They will be giving drinks away at their own location through the week.

   2. They offered SGA three separate days. Vice President Keeling said that was too many and that SGA settled on one.

   3. The day is Friday. 7Brew will bring the drinks to campus and will confirm the flavors and the quantity. Chief Justice Edwards is finalizing the arrangements and will pass the details to the senators.

   4. Senator Ju asked whether SGA collects the drinks or 7Brew delivers them. Vice President Keeling said 7Brew is bringing them. SGA offered to collect them, and 7Brew asked to come in person so that their staff can meet students, so a table will be set up for them.

   5. SGA is not paying for the drinks and is not collecting them. The donuts will run alongside them as they did last year.

   6. The 7Brew contact has changed and is now at a different store.

3. President Arguijo apologized for last week's drinks giveaway being arranged at short notice, and said the executive team will give the senate enough time to ask questions in future.

4. Last week's drinks

   1. Senator (Phena) Kayode asked whether SGA paid for last week's drinks. President Arguijo said it did not; they were donated.

   2. The vendor had been selling at a stand and did not know whether she would have stock left over. Secretary Morgan met with her on the Thursday before the event to discuss what could be done with any leftovers. She confirmed late on the Monday that she had drinks left, which is why the giveaway happened on the Tuesday.

   3. She may continue working with SGA, possibly at a discount, and may also work with other groups on campus. She said the giveaway ran smoothly and that she would prefer more notice next time.

   4. Senator (Phena) Kayode said it would be good to have her at Jet Friday as well.

5. Dress

   1. Vice President Keeling said the executive team discussed business casual at its September 13 meeting and adopted the two-thirds rule: two thirds of an outfit should be business professional and one third business casual.

   2. She gave a blouse, slacks and clean tennis shoes as an example that meets the standard, and said the point is to be presentable when presenting bills.

   3. She asked the senators to say so if the executive team is not communicating well.

6. Secretary Morgan said voting functionality has been built on the SGA website, and that President Arguijo will circulate the link so senators can share it.

7. There were no updates from Treasurer Hertel beyond the Jet Resource Hub.

8. The update from Chief Justice Edwards will be given at the senators' meeting following this one.

9. Sister Fran

   1. President Arguijo introduced Sister Fran as SGA's spiritual companion.

   2. Sister Fran said it is good to have everyone back and to have life on campus again, that campus is dull over the summer, and that she hopes the semester is starting off well. She said she tries to come to a meeting at least once a month, that the senate is in her prayers, and to tell her if she can be of help.

   3. She repeated her standing request that members speak loudly and clearly, since what she hears is all she has to go on, and said the senate is doing better at it.

New Business

1. The 7Brew giveaway on Friday, with Chief Justice Edwards passing on the details.

2. President Arguijo said SGA is in contact with Jeannie and Lawna about the JCPenney discount on business casual and business professional clothing. Last year a staff member met students at the store to validate the coupon; her position has not been filled, and SGA is working out how to continue it so that senators can buy clothes at a discount.

3. Senator Do said the bowling event for the Campus Activities Board is this evening and asked senators to sign up, and said snacks will be handed out at Thursday's soccer game.

4. Vice President Keeling said SGA is considering polos in place of last year's pullovers, so that members can wear them to meetings and match at conferences, and asked the senators for their preference and any other ideas.

5. President Arguijo said a range of options will be sent out for the senators to choose from.

6. Announcements

   1. President Arguijo asked the senators to be active on campus and to attend what they can, and said that senators who need volunteer hours should make contact to help.

   2. Tuesday September 15: the Resource Fair. SGA will be there.

   3. Wednesday September 16: ASA Moon Festival, and a home volleyball game at 6:00 p.m.

   4. Thursday September 17: a soccer game at 7:00 p.m., with SGA handing out snacks.

   5. Saturday September 19: another soccer game.

   6. Sunday September 20: a nacho bar after mass.

   7. Saturday September 26: Party on the Plaza, with a volleyball game that morning.
